Expo 2020 Dubai

There can be fewer more challenging logistics landscapes than when the ‘unknowns’ outnumber the ‘knowns’, when the scale of work is huge, when the timelines are at their tightest and when the inventory being moved is unique.

These factors all played a part when the Directors of Stoneleigh International Consulting were deployed to Dubai, UAE on a multi-year assignment by UPS to provide logistics support for the largest event of its kind, Expo 2020 Dubai.

Over the course of five years, the team meticulously planned and executed their strategy, guided by four foundational pillars.

Efficiency Optimization

Painstakingly vigilant over the course of load-in, enabled the team to select the most appropriate modes of transport, be that Road, Ocean, Air or on occasion last-minute air charters. The work did not stop at the port of arrival as our role also ensured the timely clearance and delivery to the exact point.

Risk Mitigation Strategies

Being based on the Expo 2020 site itself, the team was able to manage replenishment and transitions with ease thereby able to remain close and accessible to our clients. We managed our own crews and provided an unrivalled level of service. Even at the end of the event, the team remained on-site, executing the whole plan in reverse, ensuring that exhibits and event material returned to their home country, again by the most appropriate mode.

Project Management Excellence

The hard date of an opening ceremony was juxtaposed by the fluidity of event and exhibit planning, but it was against this backdrop that the team designed and sequenced just how pavilions would be transitioned from empty spaces to functioning showcases for their respective countries.

Innovative Solutions and Simplification

Leveraging state of the art technology, the team provided a showcase of the future of logistics from final mile EV’s, pedestrian friendly final mile delivery units and even a parallel logistics showcase in the Metaverse.

From final mile to final inch, all aspects of the supply chain were planned and managed. In total 64 pavilions entrusted their logistics to the team and in return, they received an unparalleled level of service.

When a creative and agile solution is required, the Stoneleigh team has demonstrated the imagination and know-how to plan and execute against the most demanding of constraints.
